A blog can be a great way to connect with your customers, establish your own credibility, and promote your business. Done incorrectly, however, it can cause harm to your business.
The Inc.com blog offers some perspective on how not to write your business blog. Here are a few of the common mistakes they recommend you watch out for:
- Commenting on current events just a little too late. No one wants to read a post about a timely news story three weeks after the fact.
- Writing a post around a catchy headline. Catchy headlines are fine, but they should come after you have something worthwhile to say in your blog post.
- Being unsure of yourself. Blogs are a place to demonstrate your expertise, not a place to wonder aloud if you’re correct about something. If you’re not sure, don’t blog it.
